Background
Born and raised in Wisconsin, I received my Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in May 2008. I then moved to East Lansing, MI and completed my Master's degree in Exercise Physiology at Michigan State University, graduating in May 2010. After my Master's, I took some time off from school and moved back to Wisconsin to work at UW Health. While I help many jobs at UW Health, my main focus was the Pediatric Fitness Clinic where I worked as an Exercise Physiologist and coordinated the Get Fit! after-school physical activity program. I returned to school in August of 2012 to begin my PhD here at Iowa State.
Research Interests
My main research interest continues to be pediatric obesity. My research here at Iowa State centers around the Family Nutrition and Physical Activity screening tool (the FNPA) and how the home environment and parenting behaviors may interact with potential weight gain.
