Background
Walk with Ease is an evidence-based activity program developed by the Arthritis Foundation and recommended by the CDC for the management of the symptoms of arthritis. Currently offered in both individual and group-based formats, the program has been shown to effectively help participants improve their pain symptoms, reduce physical limitations, and improve symptom management self-efficacy.
The program focuses on integrating physical activity in the form of walking into your daily routine. The program is designed to meet participants at their current fitness level and progress gradually over its six-week duration, while also providing the knowledge to continue progressing after the program is complete.

Walk with Ease at ISU is a structured walking program designed for adults aged 60 and older, available in partnership with the ISU Exercise Clinic. It was developed by the Arthritis Foundation and our team serves to coordinate the statewide dissemination of the program. The local programming provided at ISU is set up as a research study to allow versions of the programming to be evaluated. Requirements for Research
The program is open to anyone over the age of 60 who could benefit from becoming more physically active. To be eligible, you must be able to stand without increasing pain for at least 10 minutes, must be referred to the study by their health care provider, and must be willing to complete several surveys and fitness assessments as part of the research project.
Enrollment Information
If you feel that you are eligible to participate, and would benefit from participation in this study, speak to your health care provider for a referral to the research team, who will provide informed consent documentation and answer any questions you may have.
