Overview of the PAHP Lab

The focus of research in the Physical Activity and Health Promotion (PAHP) lab is on the assessment and promotion of physical activity, physical fitness and health in the population. We work in a variety of settings, populations and conduct research with a variety of tools and methods. The PAHP lab is just one lab in the department and the lab has active collaborations with a number of other faculty that conduct related work. Our broader team has aligned under the structure of the "Clinical and Translational Research Team' in the department to capture the breadth of our interests. The PAHP lab is coordinated by Dr. Greg Welk, a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology where it is based.

Research

Our lab conducts research on a diverse array of topics. but the primary work is conducted by Ph.D. students that share an interest in this integrated line of research. A link to bios of our current research team is here. Historical links to past members of the lab are provided here.

Links to active lines of research are summarized at the following link as a main tab on the website (Link)

Participating in Research

The lab is currently recruiting participants for two studies (See Below) .
  • Physical Activity Monitoring Study (Visit Study Enrollment tab for details)
  • Cydekicks Health Coaching Project (See Wellness Works Outreach)

Accessing Research Files - Data Sharing

We have posted links for researchers to be able to access data sets from various published studies. Click here to see the available data sources.

Training Courses

Our lab coordinates and manages several training courses to support lines of implementation science research. The training courses are linked to the ISU Translation Research Network and are designed to build capacity in organizations and community partners to adopt, implement and sustain the use of evidence-based programs and practices.

Visit the U-TuRN website (See Resources tab for specific information on courses).
